While I haven’t entirely disappeared from the social space, it’s been a really a long time since I’ve voiced or posted anything personal in public. So, here I go…
Living openly as a transgender woman has been a proper rollercoaster ride so far, with super befokte highs and uber kak lows. With the support of my friends and family, I’ve managed live freely and transparently, as well as develop a deeper understanding of my self and my (gender) identity, while building a positive and resilient self-concept.
However, I’ve really been struggling with my physical body and navigating overly masculine spaces, with the way society treats my presentation, with living with the violence that comes with being a visible transgirl.
For me, it was painfully obvious that taking care of my mental and emotional wellbeing had to become an integral part of the my daily life in order to survive a rigid, uncompromising society.
With that in mind, today I’m starting a #30DaysOfSelfCare series.
The goal is to openly share my thoughts and experiences with you daily (they’ll be short-ish posts like this one). This is mostly to help me be my unapologetically trans self in public, but also to put ideas, discussions and voices like these out in the open.
It’s taken me a while to get this started but hopefully, even if you can’t relate directly, it’ll add something positive to your day.
